wacksteppaz MONKEY STEAK to supply the beats and the bass quite frankly
beggar’s belief but the deed’s been done and the booking made. So come along:
Speaker’s Corner
@ Jamm, 261 Brixton High Road, London, SW9 / 7pm – 3am / FREE entry. See www.brixtonjamm.com for more details about the night.

Monkey Steak go highbrow.
Apologies for the lack of updates recently but Monkey Steak have been busy
working on more highbrow pursuits. First of all, we had the first screening of 'Tuning Gredos', the ethnographic film directed
by Lucia Diaz Munoz and scored by Monkey Steak out of field records taken in Gredos, Spain in June 2004. Following this came
working with the London College of Communications for the 'Sound of Print' design symposium at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
Monkey Steak contributed a piece for the audience participation section of the day which was constructed out of the sounds
of the objects the audience were invited to explore. For more info click here: http://www.google.com/u/vam?q=sound+of+print
On Friday 19th November the Sam Burke directed short film recieved its world
premiere at the National Film Theatre, London. Monkey Steak attended to hear how our score sounded in a cinema and we are
pleased to report that it sounded excellent and had peoples heads nodding even at the most sobering points of the film.

14/07/2004 - Toxic Dancehall Free Party
More Monkey Steak heard out - this time at Toxic Dancehall. Again,
Parasite was the chap responsible. Crowds of 200+ rinsed out to Jamaican Girl Style, and if that was not enough, D'Kat played
the remix of his tune "Lunn Let The Dog Drive The Van" by Tha' Steak's very own Atki2.
Shouts out to the Toxic Dancehall crew - is there really
a better night out there?
(30.04.04) Monkey Steak On Dialect Internet Radio
Check out the audio stream at http://www.fugazi.net/parasite/news/index.htm for Parasite (Death$ucker) and 606s back to back radio show
for Bristol based Dialect Radio. Amongst their aural onslaught of break core and punk, Monkey Steaks septic treat, Named and
Maimed (yep, the remix!) made a surprise appearance. Go listen!!
12/04/04 Latest Sounds.
A rough version of Rich Cat, Shit Cat has been recently finished. This tune takes the
Monkey Steak sound in a slightly harder direction marrying hard jungle beats and noise with a seventies childrens story. A
new ruff two steptune (working title Birthday beats) is also underway. We have been treating ourselves a bit lately and some
Fostex PM1s, a Korg Kaoss Pad 2, and a second (very swanky) laptop have been recruited for these tunes.

Septic Trees (Version) demoed at Toxic Dancehall, Black Swan, Bristol
24/01/04
An unfinished edit of Septic Trees (Version) was debuted last saturday
on the bass-heavy sound system of the Black Swan in Bristol. In a club designed for dirty ragga, the tune sounded fucking
rude and had the whole dancefloor moving. Other highlights of the night included storming sets from Anarchic Hardrive, the
Bug, and DJ Shitmat.
